The Return of the Jedi!

The return of the Jedi?

You mean the Jedi Knight from the Star Wars saga?

Oh, I love that movie...

Yeah, I love that movie too. But that's not the Jedi I'm referring too.

However, I do think of him, sort of like a Jedi Master.. A Murabbi who have return back to Malaysia to serve this ummah. Jedi Master Zaki Ibrahim.

I didn't get the chance to go through tarbiyyah under his guidance for the whole year. Only a few meetings, but he taught me something that might requires me a thousand years to venture. He made me and my other usrah mates to do a hafazan every week. But only one verse per week. We managed to get three verses. A powerful verses they are. The BIG THREE, if I may call it. The first verse was..

#1

"Beautified for people is the love of that which they desire - of women and sons, heaped-up sums of gold and silver, fine branded horses, and cattle and tilled land. That is the enjoyment of worldly life, but Allah has with Him the best return."
(Ali-Imran:14)

Then, the second verse is

#2

Say, [O Muhammad], "If your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your wives, your relatives, wealth which you have obtained, commerce wherein you fear decline, and dwellings with which you are pleased are more beloved to you than Allah and His Messenger and jihad in His cause, then wait until Allah executes His command. And Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people."
(At-Tawba:24)

And the final verse is

#3

Go forth, whether light or heavy, and strive with your wealth and your lives in the cause of Allah . That is better for you, if you only knew.
(At-Tawba:41)

And if you look at it carefully, these verses, he made us memorised in order. In order of what, you ask? In order of how to become a da'ie, to be someone to spread this Deen of Islam. The first step was to make sure that we are a better Muslim. It would be such an ironic thing when we want to ask someone to become better, and in the meantime, we're the ones who lead in all these acts of jahiliyyah and wrongdoings. Woe on people who does not do what he has told others not to.

Then, in the second verse, he made us understand that doing da'wah, spreading this Deen is our ultimate objective. And Allah's wrath awaits for those who love this dunya and everything in it more than they love going out for Jihad in Allah's path.

Finally, he made us realised that, being in this path of da'wah and tarbiyyah, is not a path of flowers and red carpet. It is a path that requires sacrifice. A path that demands so much of your daily life, be it during free and tight schedule. And he made us all realised that this da'wah does not need any of us, but we are the ones who need da'wah because doing so, benefits us tremendously.

Imagine for every good deeds that other people have done due to our da'wah to them, being credited into our 'account'?

Wouldn't that be awesome?

Thus, this 'Jedi Master' of mine have taught me well. Short, but very deep. Showed the path for me, you have, Master~

*May Allah made you maintain steadfast in this path of da'wah and tarbiyyah, dear Murabbi. In shaa Allah, we'll meet again soon.
